Barry McGee is a San Francisco based painter and graffiti artist. He is also known by pseudonyms Ray Fong and Twist, as well as variations of Twist such as Twister, Twisty and more. His work is heavily inspired by a pessimistic view of urban experience, which he describes as. “urban ills, over stimulations, frustrations, addictions & trying to maintain a level head under the constant bombardment of advertising”. McGee’s paintings are very iconic, with central figures dominating abstracted backgrounds of drips, patterns and color fields.
