For decades now, San Francisco based artist Frank Kozik has captured an audience by his graphically compelling and culturally gripping work. Kozik, one of the most prolific and popular designers and producers of vinyl toys, has in recent years released several high-end limited edition vinyl sculptures.

In 2006 he first released “The Bird is the Word” vinyl bust featuring a hybrid between China’s Chairman Mao Tse Tung and the iconic figure Mickey Mouse. The original piece debuted at 15” in height, and later a limited edition Bronze “Giant Mao” almost double in size was released in an edition of 50 pieces.

SURU is proud to announce that after months in the works, we will be releasing an even more limited edition of the “Giant Mao” aka “The Bird is the Word” in a chrome finish that you will have to see to appreciate! The chrome edition is limited to only 25 pieces, and will be released Wednesday September 30th at SURU! In addition to the release, we are honored to have Kozik be in attendance for the event. The piece will be unveiled later this week as well as event details.
